WE’LL GO AHEAD AND SAY IT

Traditional tree stakes can be dangerous, fundamentally flawed, and… honestly, kinda suck.

Imagine Kris Brown, a Landscape Architect and Arborist, on his journey to transform the way we support trees. It all started with a frustrating encounter with yet another T-Post – an eyesore above ground, while trees struggled to find the proper support they needed. He decided to find a better way.

Why settle for exposed hardware above-ground when there's an elegant below-ground solution like ArborStakes™? So, let's break it down in terms of simple mechanical physics. The ArborStakes™ system operates much like a ball-and-socket joint, securely anchoring trees by penetrating through the rootball into the soil below. It's an effective and proven approach.

Consider alternative in-ground methods; it's crucial to recognize that transferring the responsibility for maintaining, removing, or fixing these clunky metal systems can not only inconvenience future caretakers but also pose a risk to the tree's health. Not only can this create trouble and extra costs for future property owners and maintenance crews, but it can also harm the tree and often outlive the tree they were intended to support, with potential ramifications for the safety and welfare of the public.

ArborStakes™ also shine when it comes to sustainability. They are constructed from U.S. sourced FSC®-certified wood and equipped with sturdy locks made of plant-based, soil-degradable resin. The ArborStakes™ system gradually biodegrades within 18-24 months once covered, enriching the soil and encouraging tree growth. What makes them exceptional is that ArborStakes™ securely anchor the rootball while still allowing your tree to sway naturally with the wind. This movement promotes the release of growth hormones (auxin), which strengthens the bark cambium and fosters outward root growth.

So now that we've mastered the physics, added a Sustainable Twist, and proudly ensured 100% made in the US craftsmanship, these ArborStakes™ are something special!

So, yeah, we’ve nailed the tree stake.

FAQs

What size tree does ArborStakes™ work with?

5 gallon containers, up-to 6 caliper inch B&B.

How many ArborStakes™ will I need?

For trees 3 caliper inch and smaller, you just need the minimum: 3 ArborStakes™. For larger trees, estimate 1 stake per caliper inch.

Is ArborStakes™ appropriate for container-grown & box stock?

Yep, we love all trees!

How far should ArborStakes™ penetrate the soil below the root mass?

6 inches or more is adequate. Just enough to limit rotation of the ‘ball’ in ‘socket’ motion.

Will ArborStakes™ damage the root mass?

No. They actually promote outward root growth. During biodegradation, ArborStakes™ provide the benefit of organic decay adding nutrients to the soil; effectively becoming ‘food’ for the tree.

What are ArborStakes™ made out of?

The stakes are made of FSC®-certified birch, and the locks are made of plant-based soil-degradable resin.

Do ArborStakes™ require removal?

Absolutely not! Both stake and Bio-lock™ are completely biodegradable, in fact, this is one of the primary reasons ArborStakes™ exists. So, you won't burden others with removal or maintenance, storage etc.

Once covered, the ArborStakes™ system slowly biodegrades over a period of 18-24 months, with the timeline influenced by the level of microbiologic activity in the soil.

Where the heck have these been all this time?
